Getting Fashionably Fit!

Choosing your sportswear is a really important decision. Aside from a bikini on the beach, your workout gear probably shows off more of your body than any other outfit in your closet... especially if you're going for the tights and crop-top option! Especially where I live, in LA, people regularly wear their workout clothes running errands or seeing friends for coffee, before they hit the gym. So your outfit can easily make a bold fashion statement, not to mention also flatter your body, if you pick the right styles! Fitness brands have come a long way in the last few years: now the technology used in fabrics can literally suck, shape, and smooth your curves, it's awesome!  

The best way to find shapes that suit you is to take at least half an hour in the changing room, and try out a bunch of different styles. Some of my favorite lines include Lorna Jane, Sweaty Betty, New Balance, Adidas Originals, Lulu Lemon and Splits59. They fit well, and carry fun designs and prints. Personally, I love 3/4 length leggings, a racer - front sports bra and a longer, tight top with thin straps. I love layering a neon color bra under a darker top, and black or grey leggings are always more slimming than bright or printed pants. If you love yoga or Pilates, soft cotton pieces are a great alternative.  And if you like to run, short shorts are super flattering on your legs too. Don't forget the outerwear too: a quilted gilet or cropped Hoodie in a pastel tone looks feminine and fun. There are also some cute tops with workout mantras on them, and whilst I don't love mottos emblazoned across more formal attire, I love it for a workout look. My favorite? A pair of Lorna Jane leggings with 'Run Girl Run' written in hot pink down the leg. I swear it motivates me to go faster!  My advice? Have fun with your fitness fashion: be bold with color, and messaging, and make sure it hugs you in all the right places!
